Carving is the process of cutting a design into leather with a swivel knife. Tooling is the process of hammering small tools into the leather to give it dimension and detail.
Buck-stitch is normally used as a boarder embellishment. Holes are hammered through the leather and a thin piece of hide, called “lace,” is weaved threw, front to back. Lace comes in nearly any color.
Double loop lacing is used as a boarder embellishment and to stitch multiple pieces of leather together. Although much more time-consuming, the process is similar to buck-stitch lacing, and gives a different effect.
Conchos are any metal pieces that can be attached to leather. They can be found in a seemingly endless array of designs, sizes, materials and finishes.
The backing is a thin piece of garment leather. It is glued and stitched to the under side of a guitar strap. Its main purpose is to hide the coarse underside of the tooling leather, as well as add comfort to the wearer. Comes standard, unless upgraded with premium leather or exotic skins.
Heavy duty, industrial , machine stitched. Can also be used for decoration. Comes standard, unless border embellishment is upgraded.
